Job purpose The Production Supervisor is responsible for effectively supervising employees in a designated area of manufacturing to ensure a safe work environment, meet production deadlines, and attain established goals in the areas of production quality, delivery, and cost.

Requirements

  • 3 + years’ experience in a manufacturing related position required.
  • Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred; experience in the automotive industry preferred.
  • Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of lean manufacturing processes/procedures required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Knowledge of measuring devices i.e. micrometers, height stands, calipers.
  • This position will enforce to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner Safety Policy, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires.
  • This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses.
  • The professional must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and coworkers.
  • In addition, the individual is trusted with reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with proven safety programs or quality programs (i.e. Kaizen) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Above all, ensure a safe work environment.
  • Support and drive the lean manufacturing system; assign work; and recommend and implement improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, employee relations, and working conditions.
  • Oversee all departmental activities and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures and applicable laws.
  • Resolve employee issues, ensure positive employee relations, and promote and enforce all company policies fairly and consistently.
  • Responsible for area performance measures and individual employee work performance; provide coaching and direction to employees; and work with the manufacturing manager to identify development and/or training needs for employees.
  • Responsible for communication at all levels.
