We’re looking for someone to join our Suffolk Manufacturing team who is as passionate about coffee & our customers as we are! Position Summary: Reporting to the Processing Manager, the person in this role will provide supervision of the daily operations of the Processing team within our Suffolk, Virginia roasting plant. The Processing Supervisor will provide oversight of the green receiving, roasting and grinding processes and lead team members in achieving productivity goals & company objectives while providing the highest standards of service to MZB USA customers across the country. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership & communication skills, as well as a continuous improvement mindset in order to drive results throughout the Manufacturing team and overall organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment and ability to work independently with minimal supervision required.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and or weekends in support of a 24-7 production operation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to provide accurate, timely, courteous and professional communication, and a strong desire to reach resolutions.
  • Problem solving and planning skills with a focus on the ability to plan, prioritize and execute are essential to the position.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to direct, consult, gain consensus and effective delegation also required.
  • Working knowledge of PC based systems; expertise in Microsoft Word & Excel

Responsibilities

  • Develop team members to handle daily business needs to meet goals and objectives.
  • Establish and execute standards of performance goals, standardize work on production lines.
  • Implement policies and procedures fairly and consistently with employees.
  • Essential to the position are problem solving, planning, prioritization and execution skills.
  • Leadership skills that exhibit integrity, ownership and a “can-do” attitude are a must, as well as decision-making skills with an inherent ability to command, consult, gain consensus and effective delegation.
  • Expedite problem solving between mechanics, technicians, operators and support groups.
  • Works with Planner to coordinate maintenance work and PMs on the roasters.
  • Promotes team involvement and participation in setting goals, priorities, and strategies for safe, efficient, and effective plant/facility operations.
  • Ability to use resources when we have electrical / mechanical problems on equipment, work out long-term / short-term solutions that will be needed to keep the equipment running.
  • Manage daily schedule, schedule coffee requirement through packaging and the planning group.
  • Manage employee work schedule / eliminate unnecessary overtime.
  • Communicate any changes being made to the equipment or processes including collaboration with Maintenance team on problem solving of equipment.
  • Verify and ensure operators are properly trained and cross trained on equipment.
  • Supporting Lean Manufacturing and 6-Sigma teams for OEE improvement.
  • Perform a weekly safety and 5s audit and share with your team.
  • Reduce the amount of out of spec coffee, investigate issues and share the information with your team.
  • Set up action plans to increase team’s first-time quality results.
  • Perform employee reviews for employee feedback, weekly 5s audit.
  • Other duties as assigned by Processing Manager and/or MZB Management
