About The Position

The Supervisor, Pro DJ and Digital Music at Carnival is responsible for overseeing all recorded music and music videos played onboard the fleet, as well as managing the Pro DJ program, which includes the largest nightclub operation at sea. This role maintains the background music program, supervises digital music procurement, and ensures compliance with royalty agreements. The Supervisor also serves as the brand representative for Carnival’s DJ program, participating in specialty events and industry expos. Key responsibilities include designing and executing the DJ training program for Pro and Host DJs, supervising and maintaining the music library, and staying updated on music trends to meet crowd requests. The role involves managing the Fleet DJ Trainer schedule, maintaining DJ equipment inventory, and partnering with Fleet Music Managers to support the onboard DJ program through training, equipment troubleshooting, and maintenance. The Supervisor provides shoreside leadership to onboard DJs, ensuring creative focus and good morale. This includes developing training documents, organizing training videos, and coaching Music Managers. The role involves developing and communicating music department expectations, motivating DJs, and designing career pathways and promotional opportunities. Additionally, the Supervisor supports the relevance of the DJ program by building and maintaining industry networks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Music Production, Music Business, IT, or Marketing preferred
  • Serato and Pioneer Certifications preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications, with advanced skills in Excel, Word Power Point.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of DJ styles, equipment, and software.
  • Strong musical talent and familiarity with a broad range of styles/genres, current music trends and knowledge of the music industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote creativity and train a diverse pool of DJs.
  • Brings strong industry connections and can develop/maintain vendor relationships.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) with ability to interact and partner with people at all levels including executives.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to set priorities and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Management skills – the ability to coach and develop team members.

  • 3-5 years of music/entertainment industry experience.
  • Cruise and/or hospitality industry preferred.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Monday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Fridays.
  • Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all recorded music and music-videos played onboard Carnival’s fleet of ships, as well as managing Carnival’s top-notch Pro DJ program with the largest nightclub operation at sea.
  • Maintains Carnival’s background music program and jointly supervises company’s royalty agreements; supervises all digital music procurement and integration with other key stakeholders.
  • Serve as brand representative for Carnival’s DJ program, including specialty events and industry expos and events.
  • Design and execute Carnival’s DJ training program for fleet of Pro and Host DJs.
  • Supervise and maintain Carnival’s music library and monthly update process through multiple procurement sources and partnerships, while researching latest music trends and hit songs to keep up with current crowd requests.
  • Manages Fleet DJ Trainer schedule, updating CPS and securing cabins through OCMS.
  • Maintains fleet DJ inventory of laptops and equipment, including repair and maintenance.
  • Partners with Fleet Music Managers to maintain onboard DJ program through shoreside support, team member development and training, equipment & software troubleshooting, and repair & maintenance.
  • Update and maintain all music training materials.
  • Fosters close relationships with leaders from multiple internal/external departments to support digital, recorded music needs.
  • Provide feedback and direction during rehearsals, focusing on musical integrity, technique, style and showmanship, on/off stage engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Casting and Booking department to develop strategies for attracting and retaining the most talented and engaging DJs, well suited to the creative strategy.
  • Works closely with Groups & Weddings department to maintain seamless guest experience for all commissioned events needing DJs.
  • Incorporates all standards and policies for group/wedding music requests into CCL music library monthly update process.
  • Works closely with venue managers of all departments to ensure the appropriate atmosphere and brand alignment for background music playlists.
  • Partners with the leadership of other departments, including Bar, Dining, Art, Spa & Celebrations, and Security to ensure a fully integrated and cohesive guest experience which maximizes revenue opportunities.
  • Maintains vendor partnerships with professional gear manufacturers, DJ software companies, and DJ Expos to represent Carnival’s brand professionally and positively.
  • Owns the purchasing of all DJ gear for the fleet.
  • Review and refine safety practices, create, and enforce training programs, ensuring the highest level of team safety while maintaining operational integrity.
  • Ensure teams are prepared to for safe operations, partnering closely with the Security team for nightclub operations.
  • Assist in emergency planning for natural disasters and executing emergency plans.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies and procedures, emphasizing safety protocols and operational standards as outlined by Global HESS (Health, Environment, Safety, and Security) and ADA guidelines.
  • Monitor ship locations for compliance with local and international laws and environmental impact considerations.
  • Maintain music program through strategic fleet audits and ship visits and fleet supervisors to support shipboard and studio operations.
  • Monitor monthly GSAT scores, and guest comments to evaluate Production performance.
  • Use this data to identify areas for improvement and support team development.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from guests and shipboard personnel to identify areas for improvement for the Music team.
  • Use this information to suggest decisions to shoreside leadership to implement enhancements that elevate the overall guest experience.
  • Regularly review customer feedback and data to identify trends and areas needing improvement.
  • Share these insights with the Manager to help refine programs and enhance guest experiences.
  • Track key metrics, guest surveys, and feedback to improve service and satisfaction.
  • Prepare and propose financial plans including operating and capital plan exceeding $45M.
  • Continuously monitor and adjust plans based on guest behavior, sourcing, and operational dynamics.
  • Oversee purchasing and maintenance of all musical equipment, including specialized components and spare parts, within budget.
  • Negotiate favorable pricing with vendors, evaluate cost-effective options, and oversee purchase orders to avoid unnecessary expenses.
  • Monitor inventory levels in warehouses and onboard vessels to ensure ample stock of critical spare parts, minimizing equipment downtime and disruptions to entertainment operations.
  • Partner with Sourcing, Procurement, Purchasing, Legal, and Compliance teams to develop strategies, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.
  • Optimize cost savings, ensure high-quality service, and identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Manage personal and direct reports’ travel arrangements and expenses in line with Carnival Cruise Line’s policies.
  • Ensure all travel is cost-effective and compliant, and submit expense reports promptly.
