About The Position

The Prevention Supervisor provides leadership, operational oversight, and direct staff supervision for assigned prevention programs at St. Catherine’s Center for Children. Serving as a key member of the Prevention Leadership Team, this role shares responsibility for daily departmental operations, program strategy, and service delivery under the direction and guidance of the Director of Prevention Services.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of experience required.
• Experience in supervision and direct practice.
• Excellent organizational skills, strong leadership and project management skills.
• Ability to work as a multi-disciplinary team member, while setting a precedent as a leader.
• Clean and Valid New York State Driver’s License (actively licensed at least one year) - is required.
• Understanding of developmental disabilities as well as mental health and substance abuse difficulties; Experience working with families facing such issues.
• Knowledge of community resources and how to access them to eliminate social barriers.
• Proficiency in various computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Business Suite, and the Internet; Experience with AWARDS a plus!
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times, stressful environment.
• Ability to complete pre-employment background check requirements, including CBC fingerprinting.
• Staff in driving positions must be able to meet the agency’s minimum requirements of our insurance policy for authorized drivers including, but not limited to, the minimum age of 21 at time of hire; with the ability to maintain insurability throughout employment.

• Ability to lead with confidence, inspire supervised staff, and collaborate effectively with peer-level managers.

• Ability to perform under high-stress/crisis conditions utilizing Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) non-physical de-escalation strategies.
• Capacity to provide supportive, empathetic debriefing to staff following critical incidents.
• Ability to build respectful, strength-based relationships that empower clients while maintaining clear, professional boundaries and limits.
• Skilled in interacting respectfully with diverse populations across socioeconomic levels, cultures, and varying cognitive/developmental functioning levels.
• Excellence in written and electronic documentation (e.g., client progress notes, treatment plans) in accordance with agency policy and regulatory oversight bodies.
• Willingness to maintain current knowledge of mandates and standards set by agency oversight bodies, including NYSED, NYS OMH, and NYS OCFS.
• Strict commitment to protecting client Protected Health Information (PHI) and maintaining absolute confidentiality (position carries full PHI access).
• Strong organizational skills to manage and prioritize diverse tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and fulfill all requirements outlined in the Revised Policy for Agency Drivers.
• Physical ability and flexibility to travel between multiple service sites as required.
• Willingness to work flexible hours outside standard operating schedules when reasonable operational needs arise.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct leadership and supervision to assigned prevention staff through regular 1:1 supervision and group team meetings.
• Maintain adequate staffing levels across assigned teams and step in to cover caseload responsibilities during staffing shortages.
• Partner with the Training Manager to deliver orientation and ongoing professional development, ensuring full team participation in required trainings.
• Conduct specialized training sessions throughout the year for residential case managers to enhance their skills in applying prevention models within aftercare.
• Monitor program documentation and administrative paperwork to guarantee high quality, compliance, and service delivery across all assigned caseloads.
• Participate actively in monthly Quality Assurance meetings in coordination with the Quality Improvement Department.
• Foster cross-departmental collaboration (homelessness, health services, community outreach) to ensure holistic, interconnected support for children and families.
• Lead family conferences within the assigned team and share overall oversight responsibilities for daily department operations.
• Take an active leadership role in designing, refining, and executing the agency’s residential aftercare model to build a proven, successful aftercare paradigm.
• Provide continuous coaching and guidance to residential case managers to resolve complex aftercare and family issues.
• Assist with coverage for Residential Aftercare cases during periods of short staffing.
• Serve on the agency’s Residential QRTP Aftercare Committee and contribute to strategic efforts adapting to State Family First Prevention Services legislation.
• Collaborate with executive leadership in the development, execution, and achievement of the agency’s strategic goals.
• Represent the agency and advocate for programs/clients with external stakeholders, including landlords, ACDCYF, Social Security, and community partners.
• Serve on community committees as requested by the Director and perform additional position-related duties as assigned.
