About The Position

MP Materials is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Production Supervisor to build and lead a team of operators and technicians in transforming raw materials into finished rare earth magnets in their greenfield manufacturing facility. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of the restoration of a critical manufacturing capability in the USA. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on supervisor with experience in leading and developing a large team of operators in a 24/7 industrial operation. The new facility will encompass a wide range of chemical, mechanical, and thermal processes. The Production Supervisor will be responsible for planning and managing resources across all processes to meet the production schedule. Following the start of production, the Production Supervisor will be assigned to a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing and training operators.
  • Knowledge of 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience in Quality Systems ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949.
  • Hands-on approach to identifying and solving problems.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
  • Computer literate.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • 5S and Kaizen implementation experience.
  • ERP experience.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and manage the work of manufacturing operators to ensure on-time completion of each step of the operation.
  • Manage the production of MP’s Pressing & Finishing operations, including Pressing, Sintering, Machining, Passivation and Cleaning, Packaging, and Inspection.
  • Monitor labor efficiencies and redeploy labor as required to meet the production schedule.
  • Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure product yields and quality standards are met.
  • Manage operational performance against established KPIs and identify and track other leading metrics.
  • Partner with Production Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to identify improvement opportunities, investigate process deviations, and implement robust corrective actions.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement projects (CIP) such as Kaizens.
