About The Position

The Finishing Shift Supervisor will be responsible for daily supervision in a multi-shift 24/7 production environment. Under the direction of the Finishing Manager/Assistant Manager, the Finishing Supervisor will lead production teams toward the achievement of safety, quality, and production goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; or related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrated competence in supervising 18+ employees
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • The ability to read and interpret job orders, specifications and production schedules
  • Must be able to enter data into a computerized ERP system and manual work orders
  • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Reasoning ability – the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to work independently and take appropriate corrective action when minor problems arise
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule: hours & days to accommodate multiple shifts
  • Ability to wear required PPE (including safety glasses, gloves (nitrile, canvas, etc.), hearing protection, ANSI-approved footwear, and others as required.) in any manufacturing area.
  • Ability to wear required PPE if in any manufacturing area

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of supervisory experience preferred in a 24/7 multi shift manufacturing operation
  • Previous experience in a high speed converting or packaging operation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Executes shift-level management of shift under the guidance of the Finishing Operations Manager/Assistant Finishing Manager
  • Review payroll records for accuracy and submit changes to the HR Manager
  • Conduct interviews for department openings
  • Assist with project management
  • Attend meetings as needed.
  • Assist with addressing production issues.
  • Implements & conducts training for quality and safety throughout the production area
  • Coordinates, directs and evaluates the activities of manufacturing team members
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and safety with maintenance and production members
  • Track, analyze, and report the performance of designated shift.
  • Develop and implement improvement plans for efficiency, quality, safety, and cost
  • Ensure that production demand is met, and customer orders are filled.
  • Ensures accurate process, production, and inventory data are captured, monitored and maintained
  • Have a working knowledge of procedures and processes in a Quality system
  • Responsible for supervising, training, motivating, and developing employees
  • Communicate and work with other departments throughout the facility
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
