About The Position

The Supervisor of Pharmacy coordinates the Pharmacy’s daily activities and provides leadership and oversight to support optimal pharmaceutical care for patients. The role assists with policy development to enhance the quality of patient care. It requires meeting state certification requirements, familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures, and using experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Requirements

Three years of experience as a pharmacist in a hospital or healthcare environment.
Bachelor’s degree.
State-appropriate pharmacy license.
BLS (Basic Life Support/CPR).

Responsibilities

Delegate responsibility and authority for providing services using advanced clinical knowledge, continually improve services to meet customer needs, and ensure adequate resources are available.
Implement and monitor departmental work schedules and duty assignments, and oversee staffing levels.
Schedule and assign work to staff, monitor work quality and quantity, support staff as needed, and ensure efficient departmental operations.
Direct, coordinate, and participate in orientation, training, and continuing education programs for pharmacists and technicians.
Assist in developing departmental policies and procedures to ensure high-quality healthcare services.
Monitor application of departmental and organizational policies and procedures; assist with investigating violations, review relevant incident reports, recommend appropriate action, and assist with conflict resolution as necessary.
Compile, maintain, and interpret records and statistics for assigned functional areas.
Serve as backup for maintaining the accuracy and completeness of pharmacy billing and ensure appropriate charge-capture processes are monitored and completed daily.
Monitor departmental standards for evaluating personnel performance and identify ways to improve existing services.
Evaluate departmental performance measures and make recommendations for the departmental performance improvement program.
Ensure staff appropriately handle, document, and manage controlled substances.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
