About The Position

The Supervisor Patient Access and Retention functions as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team which manages the care of patients. They provide oversight of daily operations and supervise Case Managers and/or Financial Counselors. The Supervisor ensures that current patient have updated eligibility and authorization information on file prior to each appointment as well as provide financial assistance options to patients and education regarding financial responsibility. They work closely with the Clinical Staff, Patient Services department, and the Reimbursement department in providing and promoting customer service, process flow, operational integrity, quality care and process improvement along with high service standards.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or higher and/or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of medical insurance case management or health care billing experience required
  • previous supervisory experience
  • medical terminology and coding experience preferred
  • Proficient at partner programs (i.e.: MS Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to cope with ambiguous, changing environment while under pressure in a calm manner.
  • Must be able to work as a team member and develop productive and cooperative working relationships with all members of the Palmetto Infusion.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises daily operations of Case Management and/or Financial Counselor team.
  • Ensures clinic schedules have been verified by staff prior to each appointment, including updated eligibility, financial responsibility and valid authorizations are on file.
  • Monitors all upcoming appointments and clinical follow ups to ensure that appropriate follow ups are completed timely.
  • Explores all treatment scenarios to ensure best possible option for patient and organization.
  • Reviews and helps disseminate medical policy for various payers and therapies.
  • Provides on-going, clear, measurable performance expectations and feedback for staff.
  • Guides and counsels staff consistently.
  • Holds staff accountable for responsibility inherent in their position.
  • Serves in a staff development/mentor role to the Case Managers. and/or Financial Counselor team.
  • Participates in the orientation of new Case Managers and/or Financial Counselor team.
  • Identifies employee strengths, developmental needs, skills, interests, and values to relate to organization needs.
  • Provides and documents on-going payer, grant and assistance plan communication with staff for updates and changes.
  • Takes initiative to present ideas and suggestions to leadership.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain calm under pressure and cope with changing environment.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement processes.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with Company policies and State and Federal rules and regulations.
