About The Position

The Reserves & Planning Supervisor serves as the operational leader of Flywheel Energy's Reserves & Planning Analyst team, ensuring the successful execution of reserves, planning, and analytical deliverables across multiple assets. This role coordinates priorities, develops technical talent, maintains analytical standards, and ensures deliverables are completed accurately, proactively, and on schedule. This position develops deep expertise in Flywheel's entity structure, reserves processes, planning workflows, and technical systems. The Supervisor serves as the primary technical backup for every asset analyst, capable of stepping into any asset as business needs require while maintaining continuity of work and organizational knowledge. The ideal candidate is an exceptionally analytical systems thinker who quickly develops expertise in new technical areas, thrives in ambiguous environments, and enjoys solving complex business problems. Success requires advanced technical capability in Aries, SQL, and Excel, outstanding organizational skills, intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and a passion for mentoring others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Geology, or another STEM discipline.
  • 8+ years of upstream oil and gas experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Aries, SQL, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong experience with Power BI, Spotfire, data modeling, and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly master unfamiliar technical subjects and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Exceptional analytical and intuitive problem-solving ability.
  • Creative problem solving and intellectual curiosity.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor, influence, and lead without losing technical depth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership for Reserves & Planning Analysts across all assets.
  • Coordinate workloads, priorities, and deadlines across reserves, planning, forecasting, and reporting activities.
  • Ensure deliverables are accurate, timely, and aligned with business priorities.
  • Balance competing priorities while proactively identifying resource constraints.
  • Establish consistent analytical standards, documentation, and quality expectations.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for technical and cross-functional issues.
  • Develop expertise across every Flywheel asset, entity, and workflow.
  • Serve as the technical backup for every analyst and seamlessly support any asset when required.
  • Independently perform sensitivities for reserves evaluations, planning activities, production forecasting, and economic analyses.
  • Support acquisition integration, reserve reports, planning cycles, and special projects.
  • Rapidly develop subject matter expertise in new technical areas including operating expenses, gathering and processing agreements, commodity pricing, financing structures, ownership, midstream modeling, and other business-specific topics as organizational needs evolve.
  • Provide technical review and analytical oversight of analyst work products, identifying risks, improving consistency, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of key deliverables.
  • Design and implement quality control processes, validation tools, and automation solutions that improve analytical accuracy, reduce manual effort, and increase confidence in engineering data.
  • Lead complex analyses supporting reserves, planning, and development decisions.
  • Challenge assumptions, reconcile data, and validate results using critical thinking.
  • Translate complex technical information into actionable recommendations for leadership.
  • Develop executive presentations and decision-support materials.
  • Champion automation and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Develop scalable tools using SQL, Excel, Power BI, Python, AI-assisted development, and related technologies.
  • Drive standardization, documentation, and technical governance.
  • Coach analysts in technical, analytical, and professional development.
  • Promote cross-training to reduce key-person dependency.
  • Review work products and provide constructive feedback.
  • Build a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and collaboration.
