About The Position

The YMCA of Northeastern Ontario is seeking a Supervisor of Recreational Programming and Day Camps to join their team. This contract position is located at the Chippewa location in North Bay. The role, under the leadership of the Centre Manager of Health and Wellness, is responsible for coordinating recreation department programs and services, including day camp and afterschool programming. Key duties involve program supervision and development, quality assurance, special events, scheduling, human resource management, meeting financial targets, managing the department budget, and staff/volunteer development in accordance with YMCA standards.

Requirements

  • College diploma or University degree in Recreation, Child and Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience in a similar role
  • Minimum of two (2) years of working directly with children and youth
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector

Responsibilities

  • Participate in program delivery schedule
  • Develop program initiatives to enhance member participation, growth, and experience
  • Constantly challenge the status quo in order to develop innovative and fun programs and services within the YMCA’s mission and brand architecture to meet the needs of members
  • Coordinate and schedule all department activities and programs including partners and outside groups to ensure budget targets are met
  • Communicate schedules on a sessional basis to members, participants, membership services staff and other program staff
  • Provide training, development and support to staff and volunteers
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise staff, volunteers, and schedule training events for staff and volunteers to ensure compliance with mandatory certifications
  • Participate in the performance management process with all staff
  • Provides leadership to the level of service delivery for the department using the Y way standards
  • Build relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organization
