About The Position

Summit Utilities, Inc. is seeking a Supervisor of Operations - Damage Prevention to oversee company Line Locators. This role involves identifying, mapping, locating, and marking underground facilities using various tools and software, while maintaining communication with contractors. The position also requires coordinating with Operations to assess locations for repairs, modifications, and the installation of locate points, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory policies. The supervisor will manage a locate team, handling hiring processes, establishing procedures, assigning work, providing training, appraising performance, and resolving employee issues. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent knowledge of English, mathematics, punctuation, grammar, and spelling.
  • Valid state driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
  • Knowledge of Company policies, procedures, processes, and all regulations and rules related to pipeline operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Ability to respond well to changing priorities.
  • Ability to solve operations problems with logical solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to produce results through others while maintaining a high level of morale.
  • Ability to motivate self, accomplish tasks, and achieve goals with minimal supervision, including self-directed learning.

  • Proficiency in mainframe systems and personal computer software, including electronic mail, spreadsheets, and word processing.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in one of the following: gas and/or electric operations, locating, accounting, engineering, or related field.
  • A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for up to four (4) years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in locating and marking underground distribution systems for contractors and others performing excavation work using appropriate locating equipment.
  • Monitor and track GPS footage/mapping of untoneables to ensure locating equipment is being utilized properly.
  • Monitor the Positive Response program.
  • Complete Locator Performance Evaluations.
  • Ensure all locators are within compliance with 811 Laws and OQ requirements.
  • Attend Pre-Construction Meetings and relay information to the locating team.
  • Schedule excavation training as needed.
  • Work with outside and internal contractors and internal personnel to reduce facility damage.
  • Ensure all RTK/Line Locating Issues and all other training needs are met.
  • Conduct in-house Load Leveling, Field Audits, and Ticket Audits on company locators.
  • Manage the in-house Polygons.
  • Ensure all Regulatory Audit needs are met.
  • Ensure Damage Investigations are correct.
  • Mentor and coach team members and aid in their professional development.
