About The Position

In collaboration with the Department Manager, the Community Nurse Supervisor provides clinical and operational leadership for assigned community oncology sites. This position supports safe, high-quality, patient-centered care across multiple locations and promotes consistent standards, workflows, and patient experiences. The Community Nurse Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership and clinical support to nursing and support staff, assists with staffing and scheduling, promotes team engagement and professional development, and helps ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and oncology-specific standards. The Supervisor serves as a clinical resource for staff and providers and assists the Department Manager with operational initiatives, quality improvement, patient satisfaction, physician alignment, and department goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of inpatient or outpatient oncology nursing experience required.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced healthcare environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certificate (provider card) within 60 days of hire.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to support oncology patients and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and support team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities across multiple locations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, support staff, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Computer literacy and ability to use electronic medical records and other required systems.
  • Commitment to professional development and maintenance of clinical competencies.
  • Demonstrates reliable attendance and dependability.
  • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard and other technology necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day leadership and clinical support for nursing staff across four community oncology sites.
  • Coordinates staffing and scheduling to maintain safe and appropriate coverage.
  • Supports staff orientation, education, competency, professional development, and performance management.
  • Assists with recruitment, hiring, retention, coaching, recognition, and corrective action in collaboration with the Department Manager.
  • Promotes teamwork, accountability, effective communication, and a positive work environment.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for staff and providers and provides direct patient care as needed.
  • Promotes safe, high-quality, evidence-based oncology care and adherence to standards of practice.
  • Ensures consistent use of policies, procedures, workflows, and clinical standards across assigned sites.
  • Monitors patient care, quality outcomes, safety concerns, and patient experience and assists with improvement efforts.
  • Supports compliance with organizational, regulatory, accreditation, and oncology-specific requirements.
  • Assists with management of department resources, including staffing, equipment, supplies, and budget.
  • Identifies operational needs and works with the Department Manager to address barriers and improve efficiency.
  • Promotes effective communication and collaboration among patients, families, providers, and healthcare team members.
  • Serves as a role model for organizational values, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Communicates significant clinical, staffing, operational, and patient concerns to the Department Manager.
  • Performs direct patient care and other duties consistent with the Clinical RN Job Description, as needed.
