About The Position

Under the supervision of the Superintendent, with some level of independence and discretion, this position oversees the inspection, troubleshooting, installation, repair, and renovation of Fuel Oil Management (FOMS) Systems and remedial systems Citywide. The role involves preparing and reviewing Maximo Work Orders, providing specialized technical support, managing materials and invoices, attending meetings with related agencies, responding to oil spills, reviewing staff time and attendance, identifying training needs, conducting staff meetings, and providing daily direction and supervision to maintenance workers and city laborers. The position also involves initiating, monitoring, and expediting material orders and service requests via Oracle and Movaris systems. Candidates must have permanent civil service status in the title of Supervisor of Mechanical Installations and Maintenance. This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability eligible for the 55-a Program.

Requirements

  • Permanent civil service status in the title of Supervisor of Mechanical Installations and Maintenance.
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
  • Four years of full-time satisfactory experience in the installation, repair and/or inspection of mechanical equipment in the areas of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, elevators, and/or plumbing in buildings, facilities, structures and grounds, at least two years of which must have been experience in a building or facility of at least 100,000 square feet or a number of buildings of at least 3 stories each, adding up to a total of at least 100,000 square feet.
  • OR A satisfactory combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the four years of experience required above.
  • College education leading to a baccalaureate degree in engineering or engineering technology may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of 5 semester credits for two months of experience.
  • Candidates must have at least two years of the required experience as described above in a building or facility of at least 100,000 square feet or a number of buildings of at least 3 stories each, adding up to a total of at least 100,000 square feet.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee inspection, troubleshooting, installation, repair, and renovation of FOMS (Fuel Oil Management) Systems and remedial systems Citywide.
  • Prepare, close, and review Maximo Work Orders and work orders for IT Departments for respective follow-up repairs to systems.
  • Provide specialized technical support for the FOMS systems and remedial systems Citywide.
  • Request and receive materials, review invoices for payments.
  • Attend meetings with related agencies, NYCHA Departments, and vendors regarding remedial actions, repairs, issues, and installations.
  • Respond to oil spills in required time frames with all necessary equipment to begin/complete remediation. Contact/advise all required DEC and NYCHA representatives of the situation and changes therein.
  • Review time and attendance, identify staff training needs, conduct staff meetings.
  • Daily direction and supervision of all staff (3 maintenance workers/ 3 city laborers), which includes assisting the Unit Superintendent with any staff related issues/ field management.
  • Initiate, monitor, and expedite material orders and service requests via Oracle and Movaris systems.
