About The Position

The Supervisor of Maintenance is directly responsible for providing a clean, safe, and well-maintained building and grounds for the students, staff, and community at the Heartland Technical Education Center. This role involves leadership to the maintenance staff, making or recommending repairs on district equipment, monitoring safety regulations, maintaining the wastewater plant and drinking water, preparing purchase requisitions and budgetary records, ensuring building security, and handling communications professionally. The position requires dependability and good moral character.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Skills in management.
• Knowledge in maintenance (including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.).
• Knowledge in operation of machinery/equipment including air handling and heating (with knowledge of computer assisted controls).
• Human relations skills.
• Responsibility for the supervision of duties for the maintenance staff.
• Responsibility for the security/safety of the district's facilities and vehicles.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements.
• Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a school bus endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance staff and coordinate their duties.
• Ensure the clean, safe, and well-maintained condition of the building and grounds.
• Make and/or recommend repairs on all district equipment as needed.
• Observe and monitor all safety regulations on equipment and working conditions in coordination with the district's OSHA Coordinator.
• Maintain the wastewater plant and monitor the drinking water daily in coordination with the district's Water and Wastewater Consultant and EPA standards.
• Prepare purchase requisitions and budgetary records as needed.
• Ensure the security of the building at all times.
• Handle communications efficiently and professionally.
• Complete other duties as assigned and as outlined in the job description.
