Voith Hydro is hiring for a Supervisor of Machining II, 3rd Shift in York, PA. This role involves supervising the daily activities of the machining department, maintaining a safe work environment, assigning personnel, establishing goals, determining workflow, and scheduling daily departmental activities. The position also requires administering operational policies, procedures, progressive discipline, and attendance policies.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma with 3-5 years of experience in the machining field.
  • A detailed knowledge of machining fundamentals, manufacturing equipment, processes, and good interpersonal skills are required.
  • 2-5 years supervising in a manufacturing (preferably metalworking) environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a Union environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeymen Machinist/Tool & Die Maker papers are strongly recommended.
  • A two- or four-year technical degree in machining from an accredited institution would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for establishing and promoting a safe and clean work environment.
  • Assign hourly employees to their daily tasks/activities to support manufacturing schedules.
  • Establish daily/project goals for the hourly workforce.
  • Provide leadership for daily departmental activities.
  • Establishes work center staffing and effective teams for implementation of department productivity and utilization goals.
  • Initiate continuous improvement activities and actions to improve departmental processes and workflow.
  • Coach performance and development.
  • Provides training and resolves problems for hourly employees.
  • Insures good communication across shifts.
  • Complete all communication and information sharing within the hourly workforce necessary to meet goals.
  • Establish, maintain and continually improve relationships with hourly employees and union officers.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of hourly personnel.
  • Administer company policies and procedures. This includes disciplinary investigations and attendance policies.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping in Dayforce and Cronetwork.
