About The Position

The Supervisor, Ingest Operations provides daily leadership and oversight of the TEGNA Stream Center's Ingest department, ensuring the accurate preparation, technical quality control, and timely distribution of content supporting more than 60 television stations. This role leads the Ingest team, oversees daily workflows, serves as the primary operational and technical resource for the department, and partners with internal teams and station personnel to ensure reliable, high-quality content delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Communications, Media, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years of broadcast operations, media operations, or content management experience, with previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of television broadcast operations, media asset management, file-based workflows, and content distribution.
  • Working knowledge of broadcast routing systems, automation systems, file servers, and related broadcast technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and customer service skills, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel.
  • Must be willing to work onsite in Charlotte, NC, and support a 24/7 broadcast operation as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Ingest team through performance management, training, mentoring, and regular feedback.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, workload distribution, and shift coverage to ensure continuous operational support.
  • Oversee daily ingest operations, prioritizing work to meet changing deadlines and operational demands.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for ingest-related operational and technical issues, coordinating with Engineering and other departments as needed.
  • Maintain department documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer service.
  • Oversee the ingest, preparation, quality control, and distribution of broadcast content, ensuring all media meets technical specifications and is available for on-air playback.
  • Ensure proper scheduling and management of digital feeds, file transfers, recordings, satellite downlinks, and content distribution workflows.
  • Oversee the use and maintenance of systems including Crispin Automation, Record Scheduler, WideOrbit Traffic, media asset management, routing, and broadcast automation systems.
  • Support testing, validation, and implementation of new technologies and workflows while staying current on evolving broadcast technology and industry best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with technical standards, FCC requirements, network specifications, and company policies.
  • Monitor operational performance, identify trends, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous process improvements.
  • Partner with Broadcast Operations, Traffic, Programming, Engineering, Sales, and station personnel to coordinate priorities, resolve issues, and provide exceptional customer support.
