Supervisor Nursing - Float Pool .5 FTE
About The Position
This is a general management position at Franciscan Health Crown Point overseeing nursing operations in the Float Pool. The role involves supporting staffing, working with vendors, managing budgets, and directing operations that affect patient care. The Supervisor Nursing prepares, supervises, and controls budgets; directs employees in meeting Human Resources requirements; completes staff performance appraisals; and provides timely service recovery for patient and family complaints or grievances. The position also participates in people-management activities, oversees processes for ensuring clinical competence, identifies staffing needs for the upcoming shift and acts to secure adequate staffing within the supervisor’s control, and keeps current with developments and technology in the areas of responsibility.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- At least 3 years of patient care/nursing experience.
- At least 2 years of charge nurse experience or demonstrated leadership skills.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license from the applicable state licensing board.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, supervise, and control budgets; monitor and analyze variances.
- Direct employees to meet mandatory Human Resources requirements.
- Complete staff performance appraisals.
- Provide timely and effective service recovery for patient and family complaints and grievances.
- Conduct people-management activities for direct team members, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and interviews.
- Oversee processes that ensure personnel clinical competence.
- Identify staffing needs for the upcoming shift and take action to procure adequate staffing within the supervisor’s control.
- Remain current with and comply with developments and technology in areas of responsibility, including documentation, medication administration, and monitoring systems.
