About The Position

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for a Supervisor, Metro Plant Maintenance. This role is responsible for the maintenance of MTA Metro Facilities, supervising repairmen, janitors, and contract employees. The work involves repairing, maintaining, servicing, cleaning, installing, inspecting, testing, and operating various systems including electro-mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, pneumatic and hydraulic, fire management systems (FMS), deluge, station ventilation, and intrusion detection equipment. The position requires the ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends. The Supervisor directs and coordinates the day-to-day services of a maintenance division, managing staffing, scheduling, and procurement. They will assist in planning and developing methods to effectively utilize maintenance personnel and resources, assigning equipment and personnel to meet operating requirements in accordance with MTA rules and procedures. The incumbent directly supervises union technical and/or professional employees and receives managerial supervision from the Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent of Facilities Maintenance. The work is primarily performed in an office setting but requires periodic travel and outdoor work at various MTA locations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the repair, maintenance, installation, inspection, testing or operation of either: electrical and HVAC systems; plumbing, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems; fuel pumps and dispensing systems; electro-mechanical electronic systems; or escalator/elevator systems.
  • Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License permit at the time of employment.
  • Possession of a Commercial Driver's License valid in the State of Maryland, prior to the end of the probationary period.
  • Ability to work variable shifts, to include evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
