About The Position

This position must have basic knowledge of family medicine and able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients. This position is responsible for the coordination of the MyMichigan Medical Group (MMG) and the Physician Enterprise the family practice staff to assure high quality, compassionate patient care. They will maintain and oversee employees and patients at the office location and will act as the liaison with other subsidiary and organization’s personnel. This position orders all medical and office supplies to manage patient care. The Supervisor Registered Nurse (RN) will assure compliance with the policies/procedures of MyMichigan Medical Group, the Physician Enterprise and the Health Care System by maintaining Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, Clinical laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA ) regulations, and corporate compliance. The Supervisor RN will coordinate and train of any new employees, including float staff. The position will provide teaching to patients and their family members. Manages the patient with pain management and symptom management, and will be available for office emergencies. Calls in prescriptions and teaches the patient and family the reasons for the medication and side effects. Coordinates and ensures continuity of care with other providers. This position provides daily direction and problem solving to clinical and administrative staff and assists the practice manager in short-range planning.

Requirements

  • BLS: Basic Life Support. Within 1 month of hire or transfer
  • RN: Registered Nurse
  • Associates degree is required
  • Previous management experience including coaching, leading and mentoring employees.
  • Leadership skills needed to effectively direct a group. Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • PC software knowledge must include: Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of medical office policies, practices and procedures as normally acquired through three to five years working in the healthcare system or similar setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and interact with people at all levels to communicate concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred
  • Prefer 1 year of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • The Supervisor RN coordinates and trains new employees, and float staff and conducts coaching and disciplinary conversations, along with assisting with job performance reviews for all staff. Processes time keeping in the Kronos system for bi-weekly payroll. Facilitate the hiring process and selection of new employees. Establishes work schedule for clinic staff.
  • Performs clinical duties as needed including triaging patient calls and reporting test results to patients. Assess patients as appropriate and serve as a liaison between the provider and patient.
  • Handles day-to-day clinical operations in the practice and utilize critical thinking skills to resolve issues.
  • Interacts positively with patients and families in an ongoing way. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from MPG services and the services of MyMichigan Health.
