About The Position

Manheim (a Cox Automotive company) is looking for a Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the daily operation of the mechanic shop. This role involves leading a team of mechanics to ensure quality work in vehicle remarketing. The supervisor will provide day-to-day direction, supervise technicians, ensure service and repair work meets company standards and regulations, and manage shop operations for efficiency and quality.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED and 5+ years of relevant experience in a related field (vehicle reconditioning, detailing, mechanical and/or body shop experience); or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Safe drivers needed; valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to clear a pre-employment drug test.
  • Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship. No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship now or in future.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certifications in automotive repair.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day direction and guidance to Auto Maintenance team members and allied vendors/service providers.
  • Supervises and directs the work of assigned Technicians by determining work procedures, expediting workflow, assigning duties, and examining work for accuracy and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Ensures the full range of service/repair work is performed according to company standards, applicable regulation and customer expectations; work includes Oil and filter change, fuel filter change, transmission flush, Vehicle inspection – for safety, operational effectiveness and minor deficiencies, Various repairs and maintenance, including onboard diagnostics systems, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension components, aerial lifts electrical systems, interior/exterior components, engine and drive line components, etc.
  • Purchases equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Supervises the completion of work order forms to ensure accurate vehicle records.
  • Approves and forwards bills and invoices to Accounting.
  • Reviews work volumes, plans and monitors staff levels to ensure efficiency, quality and effective customer service.
  • Ensures shop and work areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • Enforces company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.
  • Visibly demonstrates a commitment to safety by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the right behaviors.
  • Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
  • Mentors and teaches Technicians to ensure the overall growth of the team.
