About The Position

Manheim (a Cox Automotive company) is looking for a Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the daily operation of the mechanic shop. This role involves leading a team of mechanics, ensuring quality work, and managing the overall efficiency and safety of the shop. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a passion for cars and vehicle maintenance.

Requirements

HS Diploma/GED and 5 + years of relevant experience in a related field (vehicle reconditioning, detailing, mechanical and/or body shop experience); or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
Safe drivers needed; valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

ASE certifications in automotive repair.

Responsibilities

Provides day-to-day direction and guidance to Auto Maintenance team members and allied vendors/service providers.
Supervises and directs the work of assigned Technicians by determining work procedures, expediting workflow, assigning duties, and examining work for accuracy and conformance to policies and procedures.
Ensures the full range of service/repair work is performed according to company standards, applicable regulation and customer expectations; work includes Oil and filter change, fuel filter change, transmission flush, Vehicle inspection – for safety, operational effectiveness and minor deficiencies, Various repairs and maintenance, including onboard diagnostics systems, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension components, aerial lifts electrical systems, interior / exterior components, engine and drive line components, etc.
Purchases equipment, materials, and supplies.
Supervises the completion of work order forms to ensure accurate vehicle records.
Approves and forwards bills and invoices to Accounting.
Reviews work volumes, plans and monitors staff levels to ensure efficiency, quality and effective customer service.
Ensures shop and work areas are kept clean and tidy.
Enforces company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.
Visibly demonstrates a commitment to safety by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the right behaviors.
Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
Mentors and teaches Technicians to ensure the overall growth of the team.
