About The Position

The Supervisor Materials Management supervises staff according to operating policies and procedures for Materials Management, ensuring security, safety, and delivery standards are met. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of receiving, storage, and distribution of all inventory and direct outside purchases, and establishes safeguards to protect materials from damage, unnecessary obsolescence, and theft. The supervisor also plays a key role in personal development through continuing education and department activities, serves as a liaison with nursing units and other staff, and assists the manager in creating and training on policies and procedures. This position requires strong communication and analytical skills, including the ability to complete departmental analyses, analyze material flow, and present findings. The supervisor is expected to maximize the use of the ERP system, develop strong customer service relationships, and maintain various records including metrics, reports, and safety records. Protecting self, co-workers, and the facility by following approved policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment is paramount.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Five years' experience in supply chain, warehouse, materials management or logistics management
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Strong customer service focus

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff according to operating policies and procedures for Materials Management. Ensures security, safety, and delivery standards are met.
  • Ensures the accuracy of receiving, storage and distribution of all inventory and direct outside purchases.
  • Establishes safeguards to protect materials from damage, unnecessary obsolescence due to poor stock rotation and theft.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for personal development by participating in continuing education offerings and department/hospital activities.
  • Supervises Materials Management processes and serves as the liaison with the nursing units personnel and other staff and affiliates.
  • Assists manager in creation of policies and procedures for all related workflow activities and performance. Trains department personnel on policies.
  • Utilizes strong and effective communication skills to both employees and upper management. Able to clearly communicate and present ideas.
  • Completes departmental analyses as requested by Manager utilizing various analytical tools. Analyzes material flow and recommends actions to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Presents findings and recommendations in timely manner.
  • Understands and fully maximizes use of ERP system. Drives department toward increased utilization and functionality.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer service relationships. Ensures issues are quickly and appropriately resolved. Makes internal process changes when necessary.
  • Maintains metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, training and safety records.
  • Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedure to ensure employee and patient safety and a safe work environment.
