About The Position

As a key member of the Maintenance team, the Automation Supervisor is responsible for improving, streamlining, and automating the manufacturing process while maintaining product quality and adhering to company policy and external regulations. This role will also be responsible for supervising the day-to-day maintenance operations in the plant. The position requires planning, implementation, and monitoring of the electrical PLC, programming and automation process and the maintenance plan. The Maintenance Supervisor will report directly to the Maintenance Manager and oversee all repairs and projects within the plant.

Requirements

  • 5 years related automation/controls experience preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient knowledge in the following software packages: Allen Bradley RSLogix5,500,5000, Micrologic, PLC 5, Ethernet communication, Factory Talk View Studio, Allen Bradley Panel Builder32.Wonderware.
  • Experience in programming and maintaining servo drives.
  • Sound communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills and strong team orientation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Journeyperson as electrician or instrumentation considered an asset.
  • Food industry or high-speed packaging experience.
  • Demonstrate excellent trouble shooting skills and analytical skills.
  • A high level of self-motivation and initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and provide directions to the maintenance team in tasks and projects related to automation and maintenance related items in the byproducts area.
  • Responsible for overseeing the implementation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of process automation software and hardware, while adhering to GMP, H&S, and Food Safety Standards.
  • Responsible for supervising and implementing the maintenance plan for the byproducts department.
  • Maintenance team lead for CI program.
  • Responsible for prioritizing and executing the automation mandates within a defined schedule and budget.
  • Investigate and analyze issues/problems to provide design improvement recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose automation and process control system problems.
  • Provides training to plant staff as required.
  • Collaborate with the corporate engineering team in the design and programming of the system control logic and operator interfaces (HMI).
  • Maintain up to date records of all the Process PLCs and Programs.
  • Prepares budget estimates in close collaboration with other departments.
  • Establish controls and links with the OT/IT department to implement certain plant or maintenance requirements.
  • Works with other trades groups, vendors and contractors to complete project assignments as required.
  • Ensure adherence to proper documentation of work performed, parts used, time sheets and HACCP documents.
  • Performance of other duties as required.
