The OpportunityNational Grid is hiring a Supervisor for our Distribution and Transmission team. This role is based 40% in the field and 60% in our office in Lowell. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of experience managing a workforce required
  • Demonstrated experience building effective & respectful working relationships required
  • Ability to perform off-hour coverage required
  • Flexibility in yard coverage required
  • Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Technical proficiency with gas or leak survey field operations preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Word preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operational workload and monitor the performance of team members to ensure that all work tasks comply with Company, Federal and State policies and to ensure a safe working environment to minimize risk for all staff
  • Supervise a contractor workforce through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner
  • Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and manage the day-to-day relationship with them to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions within National Grid policies and processes
  • Monitor performance of allocated staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline, and poor standards of work to ensure work is performed efficiently and effectively
  • Promote and implement best practices to ensure all work tasks achieve high productivity and low costs
