About The Position

This position controls and monitors freight and inventory levels using the most cost-effective methods. It involves ensuring the quality and accuracy of incoming produce, managing receiving and inventory adjustments, conducting daily cycle counts for various product types, and overseeing the slotting and labeling of new items in the warehouse. The role also requires communication with customer service regarding potential stockouts, daily reporting, and managing physical inventories according to company guidelines. Collaboration with other departments is essential for maintaining a continuous flow of information regarding merchandise, new items, and inventories. Adherence to cycle count programs and safety guidelines such as HACCP and MSDS is also required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • 3 years of inventory control experience and/or warehouse experience in food distribution.
  • 1-year experience on IBM AS400.
  • Warehouse equipment and possibly forklift.
  • You must be able to communicate clearly with shippers and employees.
  • You must be able to read text that is close and at a distance with or without correction.
  • In addition, must be able to perform a manual task, hear, sit, reach, lift, bend, and interact with others.

  • Prefer 4-year college degree in a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Provide for monitoring and inspection of produce at the dock to ensure quality standards are met and quantity is correct.
  • Responsible for all receiving and inventory adjustments to assure correctness and entry into the mainframe.
  • Accountable for daily physical cycle counts on frozen, cooler, and dry products.
  • Liable for the slotting and assigning of all new items in the warehouse, assuring the correctness of the information in the mainframe and that warehouse slots are labeled correctly.
  • Keep warehouse manager informed, as needed, of potential problems and changes.
  • Responsible for notifying customer service of potential outs.
  • Complete inventory and warehouse report daily.
  • Manage and direct all physical inventories as called for under SYGMA guidelines and directives.
  • Works closely with all departments regarding merchandise received, new items, all inventories, to assure a continuous flow of information.
  • Adhere to cycle count program.
  • Adhere to hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP) and material safety data sheet (MSDS) guidelines.
