About The Position

The Health Information Management Supervisor supports other department leaders with daily operations, coordinates and supervises co-workers and activities, and assists with process improvements. The Health Information Management (HIM) Supervisor takes a proactive approach to identifying trends and solutions, all to ensure continuity and consistency.

Requirements

Associate or Bachelor degree in Health Information Management.
3 years in HIM/medical records.
2 years' experience in a leadership/management position.
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
Thorough understanding of database and IT systems, policies, and processes.
Extensive knowledge of health records, EHR, coding, and billing.
Advanced analytical, problem-solving, data analysis, research, and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated knowledge of coding guidelines and applicable federal/state laws and accreditation standards related to health information management.
Attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Self-starting, independent, highly motivated, and organized problem-solver.

Nice To Haves

5 years in a leadership/management position, or 3 years in a Release of Information or Master Patient Index role in an acute care setting.
