About The Position

This role is responsible for providing technical and supervisory skills in planning, organizing, and directing the care and maintenance of college grounds including responsibilities for and general beautification. This position will also act as the first point of contact for contracted grounds and landscaping while also providing oversight for local-specific in-house contracts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and seven (7) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • One (1) year’s working experience supervising (e.g., managing, evaluating the performance of others)
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships
  • Skilled using applications and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or 60 college hours
  • At least one (1) year's working experience related administrative or clerical work
  • At least one (1) year's working experience with the operation of forklifts and tractors
  • At least one (1) year’s working experience in irrigation repairs and installation and/or current irrigator license

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises the landscaping, seeding, weeding, cultivating, and general care of grounds
  • Plans and supervises cultivation, pruning, spraying, watering, and transplanting of a large variety of shrubs and trees
  • Prepares working sketches for the development, improvement, or expansion of landscaped areas
  • Distributes materials and equipment for grounds maintenance work
  • Applies and/or supervises the application of pesticides and other grounds-related chemicals
  • Develops and maintains an efficient and workable landscaping program plus pesticide and chemical records
  • Manages in-house service contracts such as indoor plants, window cleaning, and artwork cleaning
  • Inspects grounds with contracted grounds manager
  • Interviews and recommends suitable grounds applicants for employment
  • Prepares periodic reports of work, manages employee workloads, and closes work orders
  • Coordinates and assigns movers for intra-campus moves
  • Maintains and/or earns within one year of hire a Pesticide Noncommercial Subdivision Applicator License (NCPS)
  • Provides direction, on-going monitoring, and support to direct reports
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
  • Performs Other Related Tasks as Required
