About The Position

The Supervisor, Genetic Counseling Clinical Support, Clinical Indication oversees the day-to-day operations of a team of genetic counselors supporting clinical indication workflows. This role ensures work is completed accurately and on time, drives team performance toward quarterly goals, and supports efficient task scheduling and resource allocation. In addition to people leadership responsibilities, this role contributes advanced clinical expertise through analytical review of clinical records, extraction of relevant clinical terms, and support of genetic data analysis. The scope of this role may evolve as organizational needs, systems, and regulatory requirements change. This role exists to ensure consistent, high-quality execution of clinical indication support while developing team capability and operational efficiency. It impacts genetic counselors, laboratory and operations teams, and downstream clinical and data functions. Success is demonstrated through timely completion of work, strong team performance against goals, accurate clinical analysis, and effective training and development of team members.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or related field.
  • Certified Genetic Counselor (CGC) credential in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a genetic counselor.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing clinical records and applying clinical indication criteria.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Experience supporting clinical indication, data abstraction, or genetic data analysis workflows in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the clinical indication team, ensuring assigned work is completed accurately, efficiently, and within established timelines.
  • Lead, coach, and evaluate team performance against quarterly goals, quality metrics, and productivity expectations.
  • Manage task scheduling and personnel resource allocation to balance workload, meet operational demand, and maintain service levels.
  • Support onboarding, training, and ongoing development of team members, reinforcing best practices and clinical consistency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and workflow effectiveness, partnering with leadership to implement improvements.
  • Conduct analytical review of clinical records to extract relevant clinical terms and support genetic data analysis and interpretation.
  • Provide clinical oversight and guidance on complex or escalated cases related to clinical indication workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including laboratory, data, and operations teams, to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support team and organizational objectives.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
