About The Position

Energy Systems, a leader in industrial power solution sales, service, and rentals, is seeking a Supervisor Generator Services. As a long-standing Generac Industrial Distributor, we offer comprehensive sales, service, and rentals of Generac equipment. This role involves executing technical tasks, managing customer interactions, providing emergency repairs, and acting as a technical resource for technicians. You will also coordinate with operations and commissioning, interpret technical documents, support engineering projects, and manage field-to-parts coordination. Staying current with regulations, performing quality assurance, and training technicians are key aspects of this position. Additionally, you will supervise, train, and mentor technicians, provide phone support, manage fleet requirements, and handle performance management and administrative tasks for technicians.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver License
  • Generac Industrial certification
  • 8 years in advanced troubleshooting of Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)
  • 2 years’ experience mentoring and leading technicians
  • Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagrams
  • Advanced knowledge of Engine maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas fuel systems.
  • Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, and heating products
  • Working knowledge of diesel or gaseous engines
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of transfer switch operations
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Generac certification in the air-cooled and protector series courses
  • Spark Ignited knowledge
  • Ability to work and communicate well with others
  • Ability to provide detailed reports within 24 hours
  • Ability to manage and respond to emails, texts, and phone calls in a safe and timely manner
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Able to observe, identify and relay critical information to the company, customers, or coworker

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in electrical engineering or mechanical Engineering
  • Generac Master Certification or MPS Certification
  • 10-15 years in advanced troubleshooting of Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)
  • 5 years’ experience mentoring and leading technicians

Responsibilities

  • Execute a wide range of technical tasks—including mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, generator repair, and resolution of complex issues—while managing sensitive technical interactions with customers and contractors.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends, and holidays as directed.
  • Act as the first-line technical resource for technicians.
  • Work directly with the operation & commissioning coordinators on scheduling and start-up activities to ensure all Key Performance Indicators are achieved.
  • Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, universal generator literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs.
  • Support special engineering projects for new sales and project management.
  • Coordinate activities between the field and parts department for all daily and emergency activities.
  • Stay current on National Fire Protection Association and State regulations for Emergency Power Supply Systems.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control for the business by conducting on-site audits for safety and procedural compliance.
  • Assist in training Industrial and MPS technicians on proper start-up techniques.
  • Supervise, train, assist, and mentor technicians to the highest standard, providing an example to follow in all situations, providing guidance toward higher certification levels.
  • Provide phone support for team members during and after normal business hours.
  • Manage fleet requirements, the Generac certification status and safety needs for all field technicians.
  • Escalate all disciplinary, safety and positive concerns to the appropriate manager.
  • Conduct performance management of all level technicians.
  • Review and approve Timecards and PTO.
