About The Position

The Supervisor, Gearing Inside Sales and Application Engineering performs supervisory duties for the gearing inside sales support and application engineering team. This role has direct responsibility for all assigned team members from performance, human resource, training, and coaching perspectives. The supervisor provides team feedback and solutions to management, instills a focus on customer service, and effectively evaluates and adjusts team workload. They review current processes to find improvements and streamline activities, and increase effectiveness by providing tools, training, and standardized processes. The role implements training programs and procedure changes to support improved team performance and interacts with other department supervisors/managers to improve inter-departmental relationships and communication. Additionally, the supervisor participates in special projects focused on department-level improvements and engages in direct sales and application activities, including customer calls, quotations, product selection, application review, and informing customers about pricing and ship dates. The supervisor regularly mentors junior team members, trains new hires, and promotes mentoring skills in junior supervisors. They carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing employee complaints, and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Engineering Knowledge/Training
  • Strong knowledge of sales and customer service concepts.
  • People Management.
  • Phone etiquette for customer interaction.
  • Technical aptitude (electrical and mechanical).
  • Understanding of industrial applications, as appropriate for specific product groups.
  • Some finance experience is highly beneficial.
  • Microsoft Office
  • Breadth and depth of knowledge of customer needs, industry trends, and market forces
  • 5+ years’ experience.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Implements training programs and procedure changes, as necessary, to support improved team performance.
  • Interacts with all other department Supervisors/Managers to improve relationships and communication between departments for both internal and external teams.
  • Participates in special projects, focused on department-level improvements.
  • Engages in direct sales and application activities, including receiving customer calls, preparing quotations, product selection and application review, informing customers about pricing, ship dates, and other information pertinent to an order or quotation.
  • Regularly mentors junior team members and trains new hires as well as promotes mentoring skills in junior supervisor(s), if applicable.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance.
  • Responsible for addressing employee complaints and resolveing problems.
