This role involves leading and supervising all aspects of freight operations, developing and implementing strategic work procedures, and evaluating, managing, and assigning workloads and tasks. The supervisor will oversee hourly staff, act as a primary point of contact for workplace concerns, and ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll, and other administrative functions. Responsibilities also include planning employee schedules, enforcing company policies and regulations, ensuring timely and damage-free processing and delivery of customer freight, and coaching employees on proper techniques and quality requirements. The role involves conducting new hire evaluations, determining corrective actions, directing a team to meet productivity goals, and making recommendations regarding hiring, suspension, and termination. Additionally, the supervisor will develop and present action plans to improve load average and model compliance, participate in safety and engagement committees, train employees on safety rules, monitor and maintain organization within the shift for safety and productivity, conduct daily staff meetings, and inspect working conditions of tools and equipment.
