Supervisor - Frac Sand Mining

About The Position

Understand the mining process, monitor quality, and analyze information. Use reason to address issues and problems. Summarize and communicate findings with appropriate staff. Supervise and manage mining staff to include performance management, progressive discipline, attendance tracking, time-card accuracy, safety awareness, and employee development. Ensure team is properly task trained on equipment prior to work being performed. Monitor quality samples and adjust systems as needed. Monitor and maintain all work areas including, but not limited to: haul roads, ponds, roadways, WIP areas, gravel pit, and production areas. Survey and stake as needed to ensure grade and boundary targets are met. Help employees achieve company goals by communicating expectations, planning, monitoring and evaluating job results. Build a cross-functional team by ensuring staff are cross-trained in various positions/departments. Enforce company policies, procedures and guidelines. Ensure mining goals are completed in a safe and timely manner. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on mining operations, equipment, and resources while maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. Compile and analyze mining records. Review and ensure accuracy. Perform mine inspections, address issues, and report information to Mine Superintendent. Operate equipment, within scope, which may include front-end loaders, dozers, excavators, haul trucks, and graders. Shovel/clean up spillage of sand, rock, or mud at conveyor transfer points, feeder discharges, plant leakage areas, and spillovers. Assist Heavy Equipment Operators with daily maintenance as needed. Communicate and assist with other departments as needed. Report repair issues to maintenance department. Implement cost saving strategies and techniques. Cross-train in other positions as needed. Promote a positive company image during the course and scope of the performance of these duties. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of equipment operation
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience in mining industry, preferred
  • Ability to handle complex situations in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong attention to detail
