About The Position

This is a FIFO (Fly-In, Fly-Out) role for a Supervisor, Field Service located in Wabush, NFLD. The position involves overseeing daily shop operations, scheduling, and coordination of tradespeople to meet operational requirements. The role requires providing leadership, guidance, and technical support to technicians and apprentices, ensuring quality workmanship, and enforcing company policies, safety procedures, OHSE standards, and regulatory requirements. The supervisor will also prepare and review work orders, service quotes, warranty documentation, and technical reports, support customer service efforts, and coordinate work with various teams and subcontractors. Additionally, the role includes training, coaching, evaluating employees, and assisting with incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will be a strong people leader with deep technical expertise, hands-on supervisory experience, a safety-first mindset, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to developing others. This position is classified as a Frontline Leader role.

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ supervisory experience in an industrial or heavy equipment environment
  • Thorough working knowledge of Komatsu and other OEM equipment
  • Strong understanding of OH&S legislation, safety management systems, and inspection requirements
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and manage shop resources effectively
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of independent decision-making
  • Demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise)
  • Demonstration of leadership competencies (people leadership, managing through change and uncertainty, and influence)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily shop operations, scheduling, and coordination of tradespeople to meet operational requirements
  • Assign work and allocate manpower to optimize productivity and turnaround time
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and technical support to technicians and apprentices
  • Ensure quality workmanship through in-process and post-repair inspections
  • Enforce company policies, safety procedures, OHSE standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare and review work orders, service quotes, warranty documentation, and technical reports
  • Support customer service efforts by resolving service issues and communicating repair solutions
  • Coordinate work with lead hands, welders, subcontractors, and field service as required
  • Train, coach, and evaluate employees while supporting skill development and rotation opportunities
  • Assist with incident investigations, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
