About The Position

This position will manage the daily operations of an assigned work unit/shop within the Facilities Management (FM) department. The role involves planning, organizing, supervising, and coordinating the activities of employees. Key responsibilities include mentoring, identifying and scheduling training, planning work schedules, assigning duties, ensuring policy and system adherence, and monitoring the quality and timely completion of work. The supervisor will assist employees with problems and difficult customer service issues, provide budgetary input, oversee the purchase of supplies and equipment, initiate service agreements, and manage the work unit's budget. Effective communication with customers is essential for coordinating and resolving problems. The role requires ensuring compliance with all institutional and division policies/procedures, continuously examining work processes for improvements, and regulating staffing based on workload fluctuations. The supervisor will direct and monitor workload to meet patient/customer needs, acting as a change agent for staff and the voice of the customer. Coaching, mentoring, and developing team members for professional growth are crucial. This includes providing orientation and training to new and current team members, participating in personnel actions like performance appraisals and corrective actions, and managing timecards. The position also involves participating in department committees and maintaining compliance with standards from regulatory agencies (Joint Commission, OSHA, ERTKA, FDA, ADA, etc.) and job-related skills. Utilizing and interacting with Division support resources and continuously improving management skills are also key aspects of the role. This is a limited-tenure role to support the formation, launch, and stabilization of a new company and laboratory, with an expected transition to a permanent infrastructure position within a separate company operating independently from Mayo Clinic Laboratories.
