About The Position

Provides an unsurpassed level of guest service while displaying an upbeat and positive demeanor. This position is responsible for ensuring that all public areas meet the highest standards as set by Palms|Palms Place. The Supervisor manages the Team through motivation and evaluation. This position is detail oriented with excellent communication skills. The Supervisor portrays a positive attitude, supports management decisions, and communicates and leads by example.

Requirements

  • At least one year of Environmental Service or Public Area experience in hotel environment.
  • Minimum one-year customer service experience preferred with ability to provide courteous friendly and efficient service to all guests every time is required.
  • Strong written and verbal skills are required.
  • Must present a contemporary professional image in compliance with appearance guidelines, as set in the Team Member Handbook policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computers and typing skills are essential.
  • Must have a good understanding and working knowledge of chemical and cleaning supplies and techniques/equipment, including SDS, OSHA guidelines would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and chemical handling requirements.
  • Must be able to converse, understand, read, and write proficiently in English.
  • Must be willing to work any day of the week and any shift when required.
  • Ability to successfully lead and mentor a team.
  • Ability to set and achieve high standards of performance with strict deadlines.
  • Must conduct self in a professional manner at all times.
  • Must be able to meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to all departmental and company policies.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Must be able to perform the physical job duties of line employees in emergency situations.
  • Must be able to work independently and with co-workers.
  • Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling guest and employee conflicts.
  • Must be able to speak distinctly and persuasively to others.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, push, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Must able to maneuver in hotel areas, up and down stairs and reach above shoulder level.
  • Must be able to tolerate cleaning chemicals, without developing an allergic reaction.
  • Must be able to work in areas containing secondhand smoke.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of Environmental Service or Public Area experience in hotel environment.
  • Bilingual is preferred.
  • Leadership/management experience.
  • Leadership/management experience in a similar or related field.
  • Previous experience working in a large, luxury resort setting.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day cleaning of all public areas.
  • Perform routine inspections of lobby, restaurants, lounges, spa, executive offices, pool area, public restrooms, exterior grounds and parking structures, pathways, corridors, perimeter of hotel, heart of the house corridors, locker rooms, staircases, nightclubs, etc.
  • Responsible for conducting team updates for all team members.
  • Supervise and coordinate outside services, i.e. pest control, window cleaning, as well as the trash and recycling program.
  • Perform proper job functions by consistently following company rules and regulations as well as department policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform maintenance tasks to ensure all carpet and hard flooring are maintained on a scheduled basis conforming to departmental standards.
  • Anticipate guest needs; respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.
  • Report all maintenance defects and follow up with the facilities department.
  • Responsible to check team member grooming standards as specified in the department handbook.
  • Inform management about any damage, theft or loss to hotel property.
  • Manage and train casino porters and utility porters.
  • Inspect interior and exterior areas when supplemented by a third-party vendor.
  • Provide feedback on team member performance and report disciplinary problems to EVS Manager.
  • Check schedule and sign in sheets for daily changes and call-ins in order to effectively allocate staffing resources.
  • Reporting and documenting tardiness and absences.
  • Hand out supplies to casino porters and utility porters at the beginning of each shift to ensure responsible use of inventory.
  • Respond appropriately to all calls on radio and cellphones as needed.
  • Monitor team member break and lunch schedules while maintaining floor coverage according to sections or assigned areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
