About The Position

Methodist Rehabilitation Center is seeking an experienced Supervisor, Environmental Services (EVS) to lead our Environmental Services team and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors, and employees. This leadership role is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Environmental Services department, coordinating staff schedules and assignments, maintaining supply levels and budget expectations, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness throughout the hospital.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Three to five years of experience in hospital Environmental Services, including supervisory or assistant supervisory experience
  • Healthcare Environmental Services certification or progress toward certification as a Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) preferred
  • Knowledge of hospital cleaning procedures, housekeeping methods, and cleaning equipment
  • Familiarity with various floor coverings, cleaning materials, and mechanized cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of applicable healthcare accreditation and regulatory standards, including environmental services requirements
  • Strong leadership, communication, training, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-occupancy environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the daily activities of Environmental Services personnel
  • Ensure patient rooms, offices, hallways, common areas, and other hospital spaces are properly cleaned and maintained
  • Schedule and assign staff to provide appropriate departmental coverage
  • Assist with EVS duties as needed
  • Conduct routine inspections and ensure identified issues are addressed in a timely manner
  • Order and maintain departmental supplies within established budget guidelines
  • Provide employee training, coaching, and in-services
  • Complete employee performance evaluations and assist with personnel matters
  • Participate in employee development, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement as appropriate
  • Coordinate meeting room and special event setups
  • Help maintain compliance with applicable hospital, safety, accreditation, and environmental standards
  • Respond to unexpected situations, staffing needs, and other departmental challenges
