About The Position

This role provides direct leadership and guidance to staff to ensure that a high level of cleanliness, quality, and service is achieved and maintained within the Environmental Services department, specifically in a Long Term Care setting. The position involves coordinating projects, managing room turnovers, and ensuring staff are properly trained and equipped.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to use computer.
  • Attend all monthly departmental meetings or review meeting minutes.
  • Annually attend Infection Control and Safety In-services as specified in personnel policy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness in assigned areas.
  • Coordinate projects, room moves, and room turnovers with other departments.
  • Assign personnel to established work areas or project duties.
  • Assist with coverage in housekeeping and laundry during staffing shortages (depending on location).
  • Plan and coordinate project work to ensure proper frequencies are maintained.
  • Ensure staff receive proper orientation, initial training, and ongoing education.
  • Ensure proper supply control guidelines are followed and staff are trained in chemical use.
  • Use a proactive approach to identifying and correcting facility quality assurance concerns.
  • Provide and monitor individual guidance and motivation to associates.
  • Ensure a high quality percentage of clean is maintained in areas of assignment.
  • Perform Quality Assurance Inspections as assigned.
  • Monitor daily equipment use, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Ensure all equipment is clean and professional in appearance at all times.
  • Prepare associate disciplinary and variance reports and conduct follow-up investigations.
  • Participate in department safety and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Report all unsafe equipment and acts.
  • Assure that the integrity of security at the facility is maintained at all times.
  • Ensure office, storage, and closets are clean, organized, well-maintained, and professional in appearance.
  • Assist with The Joint Commission (TJC) compliance.
  • May have access to areas where medications are stored.
  • Participate in staff selection process and interview candidates.
  • Schedule days off, holidays, and vacations, ensuring facility needs are met.
  • Review duty lists with associates periodically and ensure they are revised and current.
  • Maintain records and ensure log books are current.
  • Monitor service binders in assigned areas daily and take appropriate action to resolve concerns.
  • Respond to concerns and requests with urgency and take necessary corrective action.
  • May provide backup assistance for approving timecards, assisting with evaluations, getting schedules out, delivering and ordering supplies (depending on location).
