About The Position

Rivet House Hotel is a thoughtfully designed boutique property in the heart of Athens, Georgia. We pride ourselves on delivering a personalized guest experience, blending elevated service with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. With 50 rooms and a close-knit team of employees, we focus on quality, attention to detail, and creating memorable stays for every guest. The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and physical condition of the hotel. This hands-on role oversees all preventive maintenance, repairs, and facility operations while supervising one part-time Engineering Specialist. The ideal candidate is resourceful, highly organized, and capable of managing both day-to-day maintenance tasks and larger repair projects through outside vendors when needed.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of maintenance or engineering experience (hotel experience preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently
  • Strong organizational and vendor management skills
  • Basic computer skills for tracking work orders and maintenance logs
  • Flexible schedule, including availability for emergencies

Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee general maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house
  • Maintain all major systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and mechanical equipment
  • Ensure all hotel equipment is operating safely and efficiently
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance program
  • Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms and public spaces
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records
  • Identify when work must be outsourced and coordinate with qualified external contractors
  • Obtain bids, manage vendor relationships, and oversee project execution
  • Ensure all contracted work meets quality, safety, and timeline expectations
  • Supervise and support one part-time Engineering Specialist
  • Delegate tasks, provide training, and ensure productivity and accountability
  • Promote a culture of safety and teamwork
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations
  • Maintain fire, life safety, and emergency systems
  • Respond quickly to maintenance-related guest concerns and emergencies
  • Partner with Rooms and Front Office teams to address guest issues promptly
  • Support hotel operations with a service-first mindset
  • Assist with capital improvement planning and budgeting
