Rivet House Hotel is a thoughtfully designed boutique property in Athens, Georgia. We pride ourselves on delivering a personalized guest experience, blending elevated service with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. With 50 rooms and a close-knit team, we focus on quality, attention to detail, and creating memorable stays for every guest. The Part-Time Engineering Specialist plays a key role in maintaining the physical integrity and aesthetic standards of Rivet House Hotel. This position supports the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and preventative care of the property to ensure a safe, functional, and exceptional environment for both guests and team members. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who takes pride in craftsmanship, problem-solving, and contributing to a high-quality guest experience.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of general maintenance or engineering experience (hotel experience preferred but not required)
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Comfortable in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and occasional evenings
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable using ladders, tools, and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces
  • Address work orders promptly and efficiently, with attention to detail and guest impact
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
  • Assist in executing the hotel’s preventative maintenance program
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment, systems, and facilities
  • Identify potential issues and proactively recommend solutions
  • Respond quickly and professionally to maintenance requests from guests and team members
  • Minimize disruption to guests while completing work
  • Support hotel operations during high-occupancy periods or special situations
  • Help maintain the overall appearance and functionality of the hotel
  • Assist with minor cosmetic repairs including painting, caulking, and touch-ups
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and workspaces are organized and well-maintained
  • Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
  • Report hazards, risks, or major repair needs to supervisor
  • Support compliance with local codes and hotel standards
