About The Position

The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a safe work environment while complying with environmental, quality, and safety rules and programs. This role provides engineering leadership and is considered the technical expert, displaying strong project management skills. Key responsibilities include the direction and supervision of engineering personnel, control of activity prioritization, and achieving project and management goals on time and within budget. The position also involves planning and executing capital projects, establishing project budgets, and interfacing with customers to support product development, quality, and maintenance. The role manages all aspects of document control requirements, including Design Control files, PFMEA, Parts Lists, Drawings, Specifications, and DVP&R's. Additionally, the Engineering Supervisor is responsible for management system roles, ensuring the responsibilities and authorities for relevant roles are assigned, communicated, and carried out effectively, demonstrating leadership and commitment to continual improvement of energy performance and the effectiveness of the Energy Management System (EnMS). This includes establishing the EnMS scope and boundaries, energy policy, objectives, and energy targets, integrating EnMS requirements into business processes, ensuring action plans are approved and implemented, and ensuring resources needed for the EnMS are available. The role also supports other management roles in demonstrating leadership and ensuring that EnPIs appropriately represent energy performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Discipline
  • A combination of ten (10) years of experience in the areas of Manufacturing, Engineering, Project Management, and/or supervision of professional/technical people.
  • Management presentation skills and experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to prioritize and carry out multiple projects.
  • Adherence to MIOSHA requirements, including safety rules, best practices, procedures, and training.
  • Must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and co-workers.
  • Responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in technical field or an MBA is preferred.
  • Powder Metal experience preferred.
  • Project leadership experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe work environment while complying with environmental, quality, and safety rules and programs (ISO14001, IATF16949, MIOSHA).
  • Communicate and enforce safe work procedures, actively identify safety concerns and support the pursuit of corrective actions.
  • Provide leadership characteristics that foster team progress, take the initiative to take on challenging assignments and create opportunity where none exists.
  • Provide engineering leadership and be considered the technical expert.
  • Display strong project management skills.
  • Direct and supervise engineering personnel and control activity prioritization.
  • Attain project and management goals on time and within established budget.
  • Plan and execute capital projects in line with the plant's Long-Range Plan.
  • Have oversight of Plant CapEx.
  • Establish project budgets.
  • Predict and communicate challenges in meeting objectives to management.
  • Interface with customers with activities that include phone, electronic and personal communication as necessary to support development, product quality, production release and maintenance of products.
  • Prepare and carry out significant internal and external project presentations.
  • Manage all aspects of document control requirements as indicated in our Management System Manual.
  • Ensure that the responsibilities and authorities for relevant roles (including the Energy Management Team) to our EnMS are assigned, communicated, and carried out effectively.
  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to continual improvement of its energy performance and the effectiveness of the EnMS.
  • Ensure that the EnMS scope and boundaries, energy policy, objectives, and energy targets are established and compatible with our strategic direction.
  • Ensure the integration of the EnMS requirements into the organization’s business processes.
  • Ensure that action plans are approved and implemented.
  • Ensure that the resources needed for the EnMS are available.
  • Communicate the importance of effective energy management and of conforming to the EnMS requirements.
  • Ensure that the EnMS achieves its intended outcome(s).
  • Promote continual improvement of energy performance and the EnMS.
  • Ensure the formation of the energy management team.
  • Direct and support persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the EnMS and to energy performance improvement.
  • Support other relevant management roles to demonstrate their leadership as it applies to their areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure that EnPI(s) appropriately represent(s) energy performance.
  • Ensure that processes are established and implemented to identify and address changes affecting the EnMS and energy performance within the scope and boundary of the EnMS.
  • Provide direction for the plant to align with the corporate vision and objectives.
  • Delegate authorities for all positions.
