About The Position

This position is responsible for overseeing employee relations initiatives, including district-wide employee incident investigations and the direct supervision of assigned Employee Relations Staff. The role involves managing employee recognition programs, service awards, United Way, and assisting with human resources special events. The Supervisor Employee Relations conducts investigations for termination recommendations, serves as the Human Resource representative for termination hearings, and mediates work-related conflicts. This role also involves compiling data and developing responses to employee grievances and EEOC charges, analyzing employee non-renewal recommendations, and serving as a consultant and advisor to administrators on policies and procedures. Additionally, the position oversees decisions on Americans with Disability requests and ensures compliance with state and federal laws such as EEO, ADA, and FLSA regulations, while modeling non-discriminatory practices and training administrators on policies and processes.

Requirements

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in business, human resources or related field with some experience in a related human resources position.
  • Knowledge of human resource management and related laws and policies required.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise management and employees on resolution of human resources issues, using conflict management, interpersonal and teambuilding skills required.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of state and federal employment laws to include EEO, ADA and FLSA regulations.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, employees and the public.
  • Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone and enter data into a computer.
  • Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
  • Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand.
  • Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises assigned Employee Relations Staff and has responsibility for associated programs.
  • Oversees employee recognition programs, service awards, United Way, and assists with the leadership and coordination of human resources special events.
  • Conducts investigation of recommendations for termination.
  • Serves as Human Resource representative for termination hearings.
  • Assists employees and administrators in mediating work-related conflicts to appropriate resolution.
  • Compiles data and develops responses to employee grievances and EEOC charges.
  • Assists in analyzing employee non-renewal recommendations submitted by administrators and in development of recommendations to Superintendent.
  • Serves as consultant and advisor to administrators regarding policies, procedures and employee relations.
  • Serves as NNPS coordinator for Employee Communication Forum.
  • Oversees decisions on Americans with Disability request, processing and approvals.
  • Ensures that activities performed comply with state and federal laws to include EEO, ADA and FLSA regulations.
  • Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Trains administrators on policies, practices and new processes.
  • Keeps abreast of developments and legislation in the field of Human Resources.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources or other appropriate administrators.
