About The Position

The Employee Relations Supervisor is responsible for leading the Employee Relations function within Human Resources and supporting a positive, respectful, and policy-compliant work environment. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this role oversees HR Specialists responsible for employee relations and serves as a key partner to both leadership and Team Members in addressing workplace concerns, interpreting company policies, and promoting consistent, fair employment practices. This position helps foster open communication between management and Team Members to support the early identification, prevention, and resolution of employee relations issues. The Team Member Relations Assistant Manager also provides guidance and training to leaders on employment practices, company policies, and workplace expectations, while ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws and internal standards. Through strong relationship-building, sound judgment, and a proactive approach, this role supports a culture of trust, accountability, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and Human Resources standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-directed with strong initiative, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyze Human Resources data, identify trends, and recommend appropriate countermeasures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to create reports, graphs, presentations, and related documents.
  • Ability to work overtime or outside normal business hours as needed.
  • Ability to travel for business as required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field required; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years of employee relations experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Employee Relations function and supervise HR Specialists responsible for employee relations activities.
  • Support the development and execution of Employee Relations strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives and Human Resources goals.
  • Promote a positive work environment by fostering open communication, mutual trust, and respect between Team Members and management.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for Team Members and leaders regarding workplace concerns, policy interpretation, and employee relations matters.
  • Partner with leadership to address employee concerns promptly, fairly, and consistently while minimizing risk to the company.
  • Support the development, communication, and consistent application of company policies, rules, and practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to plant leadership on company policies, employment practices, and Employee Relations philosophy.
  • Gather and assess Team Member feedback, concerns, and workplace trends to identify issues early and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Conduct or support meetings with Team Members regarding workplace concerns, policy questions, corrective action, and other labor-related matters, using sound judgment consistent with company standards and procedures.
  • Establish department KPIs and maintain systems to track, monitor, and visualize Team Member Relations performance and trends.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations to provide accurate guidance and help ensure compliance.
  • Manage and support employee leave processes, including FMLA and other applicable leave programs, ensuring compliance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee short-term and long-term disability processes, including coordination with employees, providers, and third-party administrators.
  • Partner with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to support workers’ compensation cases, including communication, follow-up, and return-to-work coordination.
  • Support company initiatives, special projects, investigations, and other duties as assigned.
