About The Position

The Distribution Operations Supervisor is a frontline leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and knows how to keep operations moving efficiently and safely. This role coaches and guides a diverse team of frontline associates, driving daily operations with precision and purpose—from staffing and workflow management to real-time problem-solving on the floor. The Operations Supervisor champions a safety-first mindset, monitors key performance metrics, and turns insights into action while fostering transparency, trust, and alignment between leadership and the team. This position is the backbone of distribution operations, setting the tone for teamwork, accountability, and inclusion.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Minimum 1+ year in a leadership role within operations, logistics, or supply chain
  • Experience in distribution or warehouse environments is a major plus
  • Strong planning, organizational, and team development skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to lead diverse teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Problem-solving abilities with sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Proficient in basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Physical ability to walk distribution floors, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience in distribution center or warehouse operations
  • Experience in furniture, retail, or manufacturing distribution
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory management principles
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
  • Understanding of OSHA safety regulations and warehouse safety best practices
  • Experience with Labor Management Systems (LMS) and Engineered Labor Standards
  • Background in process improvement methodologies including Kaizen and 5S
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) to support diverse workforce

  • Build strong relationships with team members based on trust, respect, and clear communication
  • Own the floor by driving daily operations with precision and purpose across receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping functions
  • Manage staffing levels and workflow to meet production targets and service level commitments
  • Problem-solve on the fly to address operational challenges, resource constraints, and unexpected disruptions
  • Serve as the go-to leader for operational questions, escalations, and decision-making on the distribution floor
  • Coordinate with other supervisors and departments to ensure seamless operations across shifts
  • Monitor work-in-progress and adjust priorities to maintain productivity and meet deadlines
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and quality standards
  • Champion a safety-first mindset and make sure protocols aren't just followed—they're lived every day
  • Conduct safety walks, audits, and inspections to identify and eliminate hazards
  • Lead safety meetings and training sessions to promote awareness and compliance
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, document findings, and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and material handling equipment
  • Promote a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility and a core value

  • Serve as a liaison between associates and management, ensuring concerns are heard and addressed
  • Collaborate with warehouse operations, inventory, quality, and transportation teams to optimize end-to-end processes
  • Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods, and materials
  • Ensure equipment is well-maintained and properly utilized to support operational needs
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams on equipment repairs and preventive maintenance
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with supply chain teams on material availability
  • Control operational costs while maintaining service quality and productivity
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains through observation and data analysis
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean principles, 5S, and problem-solving methodologies
  • Engage team members in improvement activities and empower them to suggest solutions
  • Implement best practices to eliminate waste and optimize workflows
  • Support organizational transformation initiatives and change management efforts
