About The Position

This is a sensitive government position within the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Training Unit. The GCIC delivers training and support for criminal and non-criminal justice agencies in the use of GCIC programs and both state and federal rules and regulations governing criminal justice information. The incumbent will supervise work assignments of subordinate staff, assess, plan, and coordinate training sessions, perform end-to-end learning and development, evaluate training and learning outcomes, and oversee all activities related to their area of expertise. This role provides training, technical, and consultative support for criminal justice agencies in the use of GCIC programs. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a GBI background investigation, including criminal, credit, and driver’s history checks, polygraph examination, fingerprinting, and drug screening. The GBI is a drug-free workplace and follows federal statutes regarding illegal drug use.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Completion of 90 quarter or 60 semester hours in criminal justice or a closely related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in the use of criminal justice information systems.
  • One (1) year of experience as a Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certified instructor (equivalent to GA POST IT level 1).
  • Proficient with the use of a computer.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present and train adult audiences.
  • Possess Georgia POST Instructor Training (POST IT) certification (equivalent to GA POST IT level 1).
  • A valid Georgia driver’s license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in both creating and delivering professional webinars.
  • Experience with developing and deploying training in an eLearning platform.
  • Experience working in a project/program lead, supervisory or leadership role.
  • Experience in both the creation of lesson plans and curriculum development.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise work assignments of subordinate staff.

  • Complete performance evaluations on direct reports.
