As a Supervisor Cost Accounting you will be responsible for daily refinery revenue from production and cost of consumption entries and performing analysis of product costs. Ensure accurate and timely recording of entries to facilitate transactions that are critical to the accuracy of the Company’s balance sheet and income statement. Requirements

  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.
  • Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Accounting required.
  • 8 years of Accounting experience required.
  • All successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). It is Valero’s policy that employees must wear this card at all times while working at the refinery.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned staff in their performance of duties to ensure the accounting information is processed accurately and efficiently.
  • Responsible for daily refinery revenue from production and cost of consumption entries and performing analysis of product costs.
  • Post necessary general ledger and cost center entries on the balance sheet and income statement.
  • Ensure that all relevant balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and that all open items are explained.
  • Review book inventory position across all locations and ensures accurate volume and pricing for all materials.
  • Approve monthly inventory reconciliations by location.
  • Prepare monthly forecast and inventory reports.
  • Review monthly and annual reports including the opportunity to review Renewable Volume Obligation reports.
  • Prepare monthly Purchase for Resale volume schedules used in LIFO reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting as required.
  • Oversee the general selection, guidance, training and development of employees while coaching them to a higher level of performance.
  • Support management and other operational areas with special projects as needed.
