About The Position

The Construction and Maintenance South Branch, part of the Infrastructure Services Group (ISG), is responsible for developing and maintaining community infrastructure, including stormwater drainage/culverts, footpaths/cycleways, and road and bridge assets. This role plays a crucial part in driving capital and operational works projects across the Darling Downs, offering an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the community. The Toowoomba region is known for its rich traditions and bold ambitions, evolving from a proud agricultural history into Australia's second-largest inland city. It serves as a service center for South West Qld and North West NSW, forging new opportunities in the Surat Basin resource sector, education, health, transport, and infrastructure investments. Despite its growth, Toowoomba remains a highly liveable city, recognized for its family-friendly environment. Toowoomba Regional Council serves a regional population of 178,500 and employs approximately 1,600 staff dedicated to delivering excellent customer service. Requirements

  • WHS Competency (White Card) for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or equivalent, or to be obtained prior to commencement.
  • Certificate III in Civil Construction upon commencement.
  • Certificate IV in Civil Construction, or a willingness to obtain within an agreed timeframe post commencement.
  • Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) accreditation, or if not held, to be obtained within 3 months post commencement.
  • Working in Proximity to Traffic Awareness Parts 1 and 2, or if not held, to be obtained within 3 months post commencement.
  • Current ‘C’ Class Manual Drivers Licence.
  • Experience, qualifications and competence in the civil construction and maintenance field.
  • Understanding of and commitment to Council’s Organisational Values and Behaviours.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining community infrastructure including stormwater drainage/culverts, footpath/cycleway and road and bridge infrastructure assets.
  • Ensuring the development and maintenance of asset classes in a coordinated and integrated manner.
  • Driving capital and operational works projects across the Darling Downs.
