Requirements

  • LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)
  • Intensive focus on successful implementation of crisis intervention and counseling, problem-solving and conflict resolution, patient and family management, interdisciplinary collaboration, bio-psychosocial assessments, education, advocacy, and community resource linkages.
  • Monitoring the performance of all social workers based on established metrics.
  • Provides guidance to social work staff as well as to physicians, nurses, care coordinators and other members of the care team as it relates to the treatment of individuals being admitted to Cedars Sinai Medical Center.
  • Conducts Psychosocial evaluation and identification of problems affecting optimal patient care and the development of a treatment plan as staffing levels dictate.
  • Assists SW Manager to plan, lead, and direct work of staff.
  • Ensures goals and objectives are completed within established budget and deadlines are met.
  • Develops social work new employee orientation schedule in collaboration with the SW Manager and Associate Director of Social Work.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical and administrative supervision to professional social work staff.
  • Evaluates and develops assigned staff.
  • Coordinates the functions of the social work staff.
  • Implements the policies and procedures of the Social Work Department.
  • Plans and controls the social work function on assigned units and services.
  • Develops and implements continuous quality improvement activities on assigned units.
  • Supervises the daily work of employees, assigns work, ensures tasks are completed.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary discussions of psychosocial implications of illness including consultation regarding treatments and resources designed to solve the problems of the patients.

  • Develops and maintains productive relationships with community health, welfare, and social agencies.
  • Participates in development and leadership with Department's Continuing Education.
  • Assists SW Manager with change advocacy to develop, communicates and reinforces change in the department as well as the organization.
  • Responds to patient and family questions and concerns by providing information in an accurate, compassionate, and timely fashion.
  • Oversees daily staffing and coverage including sick calls, unforeseeable absences, vacation requests.
  • Reviews and handles escalated issues and provides guidance on resolution.
  • Develops social work new employee orientation schedule in collaboration with the SW Manager and Associate Director of Social Work.
  • Assists in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and management of the performance of the social work staff, including conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of social work programs and services and contributes to the overall strategic planning of the department.
  • Ensures documentation in the medical record is in accordance with established policies (accurate, concise, and objective) and includes assessment, plan for care, interventions, and evaluation.
  • Prioritizes tasks/projects effectively; initiates change as required, or as necessary for the improvement of self and staff productivity.
  • Facilitates resolution of ethical/legal patient care dilemmas; serves as a patient/family and staff advocate when indicated.
