About The Position

Lead with Purpose! We are looking for a passionate and organized Supervisor to oversee our inclusive before- and after-school programs for children ages 5–12. As a leader in our Before & After School Care Programs, you'll play a key role in creating exceptional experiences for children, families, and staff. You'll inspire high-performing teams, foster meaningful community relationships, and ensure programs are delivered with excellence and care. Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience leading or supporting teams, ideally in childcare, recreation, or community-based programs
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificate considered an asset.
  • Enjoy coaching and developing others, and are passionate about helping teams succeed
  • Have a strong understanding of (or willingness to learn) childcare licensing requirements and program compliance
  • Are organized, adaptable, and able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Communicate confidently and build positive relationships with children, families, and community partners
  • Are committed to creating inclusive, welcoming environments where every child feels they belong
  • Take initiative, demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, and approach challenges with a positive mindset
  • Demonstrate strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn new software.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently between multiple program locations to provide coaching, oversight, operational support, and leadership presence.
  • Comfortable providing direct program support and stepping into staff-to-child ratios when operational needs require hands-on involvement in program delivery.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Emergency First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire is required).
  • Completion of 20 hours of training in Child Development, Child Guidance, and/or Nutrition is required; YMCA BC offers complimentary training to support this requirement
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide or obtain, prior to starting, a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support multiple Before & After School Care Programs fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and excellence.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to Team Leaders and staff, developing high-performing teams and supporting employee growth and success.
  • Anticipate operational, staffing, and program challenges, proactively implementing solutions to ensure safe, effective, and uninterrupted service delivery.
  • Regularly travel to and between multiple program locations to provide on-site leadership, coaching, operational support, and quality assurance across all assigned programs.
  • Work directly on the floor in ratio as required to maintain licensing requirements, ensure quality program delivery, and support program operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with families, school administrators, licensing officers, community partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure all programs consistently meet or exceed provincial licensing requirements, organizational policies, quality standards, and best practices.
  • Oversee program operations, staffing, and budgets, driving financial sustainability through effective planning, resource allocation, and sound decision-making.
  • Lead organizational initiatives and special projects, supporting strategic priorities, fundraising efforts, healthy child development outcomes, and community engagement activities.
  • Collaborate as an active member of the leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy, continuous improvement, and the achievement of the organization's mission and goals.
  • Travel to various YMCA BC locations as required to participate in team meetings, training sessions, professional development opportunities, and other organizational events.
  • Facilitate and deliver onboarding, required training, and professional development sessions for frontline staff, ensuring employees have the knowledge, skills, and resources to provide high-quality programs and services.
