About The Position

Sentara is hiring a Supervisor, Central Sterile Service Technician at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. This role involves supervising and coordinating staff and daily operations for Central Sterile Services, including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storing, and distributing instruments. The position also includes assembling and disassembling case carts, ensuring staff compliance with sterilization techniques and policies, functioning as a leader, preceptor, and educator, managing department inventory and equipment, and collaborating with the surgical team for timely instrument delivery. The supervisor will also assist with compliance to local, state, and federal healthcare regulations and standards, and develop and implement training programs.

Requirements

  • HSD/GED REQUIRED
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Certification - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
  • 3 years related CSS, sterilization, or central sterile processing experience REQUIRED

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the staff and daily operations to include decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storing, and distributing all instruments handled by Central Sterile Services.
  • Assembles and disassembles case carts.
  • Ensures staff compliance with sterilization techniques, policies and procedures.
  • Functions as a leader, preceptor and educator.
  • Manages and maintains department inventory and equipment.
  • Collaborates with surgical team to coordinate timely delivery of sterile instruments for surgeries and procedures.
  • Assist leader with compliance to ensure the department complies with all local, state and federal healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Develop and implement training programs for new staff and ongoing education for current team members.
