About The Position

The Supervisor Central Lab Processing is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of specimen processing, efficient operations, proper staffing levels, and resource utilization. This role works collaboratively with pathologists and clinical and administrative leadership to ensure laboratory services effectively support the clinical and safety initiatives of the enterprise. The supervisor directs and oversees efficient operations, acts as a liaison to lab leadership, and maintains competency in processes within their defined discipline. They serve as a competency assessor and department subject matter expert, identifying and implementing performance improvement processes to enhance patient, teammate, and physician satisfaction. This role plans and participates in the implementation of standards and systems to improve quality, consistency, efficiency, and timeliness, while fostering innovation. The supervisor ensures all operations and policies comply with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements, including CLIA, CAP, OSHA, FDA, and Joint Commission. They develop processes for continual inspection readiness, maintain effective communication, and collaborate with other leadership for excellent customer service. Additionally, the supervisor selects, coaches, and develops the team, setting clear expectations, managing performance, and making recommendations for hiring, compensation, promotions, corrective actions, and terminations. They are responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and laws.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in laboratory operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including decision making, delegation, team building, customer service, and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, accrediting and licensing agency requirements.
  • Intermediate computer skills including knowledge and experience with laboratory information systems.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities
